MEET ERIN, LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
It’s time to take care of yourself.
I’m a Virginia-based therapist specializing in the shame, anxiety, and relationship issues that comes from growing up in a messy family.
I WANT YOU TO TRULY HEAR THIS:
Seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness.
It’s showing yourself that you’re worth it.
At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that relationship hurt heals within relationships.
Let me explain: When you grow up in a family where your needs are dismissed, your inner world isn’t understood, and your emotions elicit an explosive reaction, you learn to assume that every relationship is like that; no relationship is safe.
I’m here to break that pattern. When I sit with you, my heart is to show you a new experience where your needs are valued and prioritized. Where your inner world is seen and explored. Where your emotions are met with a calm, compassionate response.
The narrative you learned in your family gets rewritten within a safe therapeutic relationship.
HOW I WORK
Central to my therapeutic approach is our relationship. I value being fully authentic, so that you can be fully real too. I find myself laughing with you, crying with you, and truly feeling invested in your life.
During our first sessions, we’ll spend time talking about your story, the feelings, thoughts, and experiences that are troubling you, and goals that we want to focus on. As we continue, I sit in the feelings with you, explore core beliefs using self-kindness and curiosity, and use the therapeutic relationship itself to help us create an example of safe, healthy relating as we’re bringing up heavy emotions and memories.
I use approaches that are rooted in processing experiences with compassion and understanding. This includes Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and psychodynamic therapy.
I deeply value my Christian faith and use this foundation to influence how I work as a therapist. That may include using Scripture, pointing us back to the nature of God, or leaning on biblical wisdom in sessions.
Therapy with me is…
01 RELATABLE
You can be yourself here. I show up authentically right alongside you–so you can truly feel that you’re not alone.
02 INDIVIDUALIZED
Here, your experiences, personality, and goals are taken into account, so you get exactly what you need out of our sessions.
03 GENTLE
I’m all about gentleness and calm. I’ll go at your pace, speak the truth with softness, and always lean into compassion.
04 FUN
Yes, we talk about hard things, but we also laugh, celebrate the small wins, and make space for lightness.
EDUCATION & LICENSURE
My background
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. I was first drawn to this field as a teenager, while volunteering with an elderly woman who was carrying deep grief and emotional pain. I remember wishing I could support her more, and that moment sparked a lifelong desire to sit with others in their hardest places.
Since completing my graduate training, I’ve worked in outpatient settings supporting clients through a wide range of mental health concerns. Still, my heart is especially drawn to working with adults who carry the weight of family and relational pain.
